There’s no question that sharing a ride to work or school will save you money. On average, it costs over $9,000 per year to own and operate a personal vehicle. Carpooling allows you to share that expense, leaving you with cash for other things.

Carpooling may also reduce your total commuting time. Imagine whizzing by traffic congestion in a designated carpool lane or parking in a spot close to the entrance of your workplace that has been designated for carpools only.

With gas prices skyrocketing, there’s never been a better time to share a ride to work. Carpool with one other person and you’ll cut your costs in half. Carpool with two and you’ll cut your costs by two-thirds. You’ll not only save on gas, but tolls and parking, too. And you’ll put fewer miles on your car, reducing maintenance costs. By our calculations, many New Yorkers could save up to thousands of dollars a year or more by sharing a ride!

Advance Search Feature You can use our advance search feature (upper right) to search for the perfect carpooler! When searching multiple keywords make sure to separate with a coma (e.g., 14224, Buffalo, Rochester ) etc. You can also search by preference too (smoker, like rap, AM pick up).

Come join the hundreds of riders in our online ridematching database now. It only takes a one minute to register and it’s completely FREE. When you sign up, you’ll find people who live and work near you and have similar work schedules. Like you, they’re looking for carpool partners to share a ride with, so they can enjoy a more pleasant (and economical) commute to work.

The IRS allows employees to set aside up to $105 of their salary each month, before taxes, for transit or vanpool expenses. If your employer offers this benefit, you can reduce your taxable income by this amount and save a substantial sum. In addition, some employers will subsidize their employees’ commuting costs, paying up to $105 per month of their expenses. Ask your employer about the availability of Transit Tax benefits.
